Captain Meger Chappell, USN

Captain Chappell graduated high school in Indiana and is a native of Illinois.  He is a 1997 graduate of Norfolk State University and also attended Old Dominion University.  He holds a Master of Science in Management and a Master of Business Administration.  He completed Joint Professional Masters Education and earned a Masters in Military Operational Art and Science at Air Command and Staff College.  Captain Chappell also earned a Ph.D. in Business Administration.

Captain Chappell’s operational assignments consisted of tours in USS ARTHUR W. RADFORD (DD 968), USS CARR (FFG 52), USS ELROD (FFG 55), Destroyer Squadron TWO EIGHT, and USS ROOSEVELT (DDG 80) where he served as Executive Officer from June 2014 through November 2015 and Commanding Officer from March 2016 through August 2017.

Ashore, Captain Chappell served in Afloat Training Group Norfolk.  He also served as Surface Warfare Officer First Tour Department Head Detailer in PERS 41. Captain Chappell later served in Navy Manpower Analysis Center as Afloat Programs Department Head where he determined manpower requirements for OPNAV (N-12).  Captain Chappell’s most recent assignment was as Deputy Commodore in Littoral Combat Ship Squadron TWO.  Captain Chappell is screened for Major Command Afloat and slated to Commander Destroyer Squadron Four Zero.

Captain Chappell holds various unit decorations and personal awards including the Presidential Unit Citation Award, Joint Meritorious Unit Award (2x), Navy Unit Commendation Award (4x), Meritorious Unit Commendation Award (4x), Battle Efficiency Award (6x), Meritorious Service Medal (2x), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (6x), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5x).
