CAPT(S) Ray Glenn, USN

CAPT(S) Glenn enlisted in the Navy in 1992. After Recruit Training, he attended both Naval Nuclear Field “A” School and Naval Nuclear Power School in Orlando, Florida. From there he went to his first sea tour aboard USS Frank Cable (AS-40). While onboard Commander Glenn was selected for the Enlisted Commissioning Program (ECP). He received his commission through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps after graduating with a BS in Civil Engineering from The University of South Carolina. After commissioning, Commander Glenn attended the Surface Warfare Officer School’s Division Officer’s Course in Newport, RI.

His initial officer sea tour was in USS TICONDEROGA (CG-47) as Gunnery Officer. Other sea tours include: Machinery One Division Officer in USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73), Operations Officer in USS COLE (DDG-67), Main Propulsion Assistant (MPA) in USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN-75), and Executive Officer (XO) in USS OSCAR AUSTIN (DDG 79) and USS GONZALEZ (DDG 66).

CAPT(S)Glenn’s shore tours include a tour on the sea going staff of COMMANDER STRIKE FORCE TRAINING ATLANTIC (CARRIER STRIKE GROUP FOUR), where he coordinated live exercise training for COMPTUEX and JTFEX. Other shore tours include: The staff of COMMANDER PACIFIC FLEET where he served as a nuclear inspector on the Nuclear Propulsion Examining Board (NPEB), military analyst on the Joint Staff, J7 as part of the Joint Coalition for Operational Analysis division, and on the staff of COMMANDER NAVAL SURFACE FORCES ATLANTIC as a senior readiness assessor in the N44 department.

CAPT(S)Glenn has also completed his nuclear engineer’s qualification with Naval Reactors. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service medal, the Meritorious Service medal, Navy Commendation medal (3 awards), and the Navy Achievement medal (3 awards).
